Step ‘behind the glass’ for an immersive, 1 hour and 40 min exclusive experience as you join the hatchery team in a staff-only area of our state-of-the-art kiwi hatching facility. You'll learn about the incubation and chick rearing techniques from global experts and watch as the chicks complete their daily health check.
Watch on as our Kiwi Keepers complete the daily healthcare check on each of our kiwi chicks and enjoy the opportunity to have your photo with the chick (pending health check results).
You'll learn about Kiwi, their native environment and what makes them truly iconic the world over. Delve into darkness and spot foraging Kiwi in our purpose-built nocturnal house and discover the secrets of the Kiwi in our dozens of interactive displays.

Tours by appointment only. Please allow 1 hour 40 minutes for the tour and transportation to and from the Hatchery. Check-in for all tours closes 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time, to allow for internal shuttle transfer. We recommend checking in at least 20 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time. We are unable to offer this experience to infants or children under 12.
