Behind the Scenes Exclusive

A truly unique opportunity to go behind the scenes at our world-renowned kiwi conservation programme.

Go ‘behind the scenes’ for an immersive, 1 hour and 40 min exclusive experience as you join the hatchery team in a staff-only area of our state-of-the-art kiwi hatching facility.  You'll learn about the incubation and chick rearing techniques from global experts and watch as the chicks complete their daily health check.

Watch on as our Kiwi Keepers complete a healthcare check on a young kiwi and enjoy the opportunity to have your photo with the kiwi (pending health check results).

You'll learn about Kiwi, their native environment and what makes them truly iconic the world over.  Delve into darkness and spot foraging Kiwi in our purpose-built nocturnal house and discover the secrets of the Kiwi in our dozens of interactive displays.

To see kiwi eggs and chicks you should visit during hatching season, between September and March. Outside of these months you will have chance to observe our resident adult kiwi foraging in our Nocturnal House.
